The 2012 Winter and Spring TRAINING SESSIONS will be Wednesday, January 4 - Feb 22nd and March 14th to May 2nd, 2012 at the Charles County Fairgrounds.  We will be offering Conformation and Beginner Obedience at 7 PM, with Rally and Advanced Beginner at 8 PM.

Cancellation Policy follows Charles County Public Schools.


Training is located at the Charles County Fairgrounds, 3 miles south of the town of La Plata in Southern Maryland just east of US Route 301.  Printable Directions  Map of Fairgrounds


Fee is $85.00 for the complete 8 week session, payable at the first class (if not pre-registered).  Make checks payable to Southern Maryland Kennel Club.  You may also participate in the sessions on an evening-by-evening basis for $20.00 per night.


To enroll in the 8-week training session mail the Enrollment Form , Check – Current Shot Record (puppies under 6 months: shots to date, rabies not required). Your payment reserves your space.  We also have a MS Word and a fill in PDF version of the Enrollment Form

Learn to show your dog in the AKC conformation ring. 

Basic Obedience

Level 1 obedience training.  Help your dog learn to sit, come, heel, stay and other useful commands.  Doggie and you will be much happier.  Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old!!!  After this class you should be able to earn your dog a Canine Good Citizen title.

8:00 PM - 8:50 Classes

Advanced Beginner - offered in September 2011

A finishing class for those who have their dogs under control and just want to work on the finer points of biginning obedience.  We will cover heeling and recalls off lead, long stays, etc.  You should be able to compete at AKC events at the Novice level after your work in this class.


Rally

In this class, students will be introduced to all of the exercises required to compete at each level of AKC Rally (Novice, Advanced and Excellent).  In addition, students will learn the AKC Rally Rules and Regulations, handling tips, and techniques for training each exercise.  Rally courses will be run each week, based on the exercises learned.  Prerequisites: Dogs needs to be able to heel and resond to the sit, stay and come commands.  Class size may be limited.

Open Obedience - not offered this session

Train at the AKC Open Obedience Competition Level (for handlers and dogs who have earned a CD Title).
